hatteras in black & white
Photography has taken a back seat to everything else in my life. Sure, having a young child is challenging, but our lives are so busy with work and school it’s hard to find time to edit photos and post them on this blog. With that disclaimer (excuse), I present these black and white photos I shot at our vacation last year. Yes, last year.
These were sent off for processing to dr5.com. I have been very pleased with the results from other rolls I’ve sent dr5 and these were no exception. With over all sunny conditions, I decided to shoot Ilford’s FP4 and Kodak’s Plus-X 125. From my previous dr5 experiences, I have found that Ilford’s FP4 and Kodak’s Plus-X 125 to be very fine grained (for a medium grain film), and the images to be rendered sharply. I think that FP4 is a better overall film, and Plus-X is better in less contrasty lighting. That said, Plus-X performed beyond my expectations on the morning beach shot (6th photo down).

Nilsa holding a very wiggly Tony. It’s a soft photo as the slow FP4 ISO required me to shoot at full aperture and the subject moved a lot making focusing difficult.
